Collections with ornaments in them can be renamed (changes all matching records) but cannot be deleted while in use. Empty collections can be deleted.
The Ornament Vault is a private record of your ornament collection - photographs, where each one came from, what it cost, and which box it lives in. It works in any web browser, on a phone, tablet or computer, and everything stays in step across all of them.
Go to ornamentvault.com. If you've been given an invite code, tap Register your invite code underneath the sign-in button, then enter your code, your email address and a password of at least eight characters. You'll be signed straight in.
After that, you just sign in with your email and password.
Adding the vault to your Home Screen gives you a proper app icon and a full screen with no browser bars. It takes about fifteen seconds and doesn't install anything.
The gold ornament icon now sits on your Home Screen like any other app. Open it from there and you'll get the full screen, without the address bar.
In Chrome or Edge, look for the small install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar, or open the browser menu and choose Install. In Safari on a Mac, use File → Add to Dock.
Along the top you'll find your vault's name and these buttons:

On a phone the buttons wrap onto a second row, and + Add ornament becomes the round + button in the bottom corner.
Tap any ornament to open its full record.
Name, collection, brand, type, style, SKU, year, size, storage box, condition, status, where it was made, whether it still has its original tag, what you paid, shipping, tax, when and where you bought it, tags, notes, and where the information came from.
If you're tracking costs, enter the purchase price, and add shipping and tax if you have them. A running total cost appears underneath as you type, and on the ornament's record.
Underneath the main picture you can add extra photographs - the back, the tag, the box it came in. Tap the ornament's main photo on its record to see them all full-size.
Open the ornament and tap Edit. From the edit screen you can also Duplicate it, which is the quick way to record a matching set, or Delete it.
The search box looks across names, SKUs, brands, tags, notes, types, styles and where things were bought. Type a few letters and the collection narrows as you go.
The dropdowns let you narrow by collection, brand, type, style, year, status and condition. They stack, so you can ask for every Christopher Radko ball from 1989 that's still active. On a phone they're tucked behind the Filters & Sort button, which tells you how many filters are switched on.
Clear filters appears on the right whenever anything is active, and puts everything back.
Sort by name, brand, year, collection, box, price, date added, or number within a collection.
The Cleanup button shows records that are missing something. Tick Photo and SKU, for instance, and you'll get every ornament lacking either - a practical to-do list for a rainy afternoon.
Each ornament has a small tick box. Tick a few, or use the Bulk edit button in the grey bar to change one field across everything currently on screen - moving a whole collection into a different box, for example.
A collection is however you like to group things - by theme, by room, by tree. Open Collections to add, rename or remove them. Renaming updates every ornament in that collection. A collection with ornaments in it can't be deleted until you've moved them.
Put the box name in Storage Container on each ornament, then use the By Box view to see everything packed together. Boxes are managed under Lists.
Lists keeps your brands, types, styles and boxes tidy so they're one tap away when you're adding an ornament. Rename an entry here and every record using it updates too.
The Catalogs button opens a shelf of scanned reference catalogs. You can read them, search inside them, and connect your own ornaments to the pages they appear on.
Tap a catalog to open it, then swipe between pages. Type the page number at the top to jump. The search box on the shelf looks inside the text of every catalog at once - search a style number or a name and it'll tell you which pages mention it.
While reading a page, the bar at the bottom shows how many of your ornaments reference it. Tap it to open the panel, where you can:
Once linked, that ornament gets a 📖 button on its record that jumps straight back to the page.
Open Settings to set:
Nothing is saved until you tap Save. Cancel puts everything back the way it was.
Everything under Import / Export respects whatever filters you have on, so you can export one collection just by filtering to it first.

Choose Import from spreadsheet and pick an .xlsx or .csv file. The vault reads your column headings and matches them up itself, then shows you exactly what it's about to add or update so you can check before committing.
Photo links refresh periodically. Reload the page; if it's still missing, open the ornament and add the photograph again.
Check the email address is the one your invite was for. There's no self-service password reset yet - ask whoever runs the vault to reset it for you.
Codes can be one-use, or switched off. Ask whoever gave it to you for a fresh one.
Pull down to refresh, or close and reopen the app. The date at the bottom of the screen tells you which version you're looking at.
If the Undo message is still on screen, tap it. If it's gone, whoever runs the vault may be able to recover it from a recent backup.
Shown beside your vault name. The sign-in screen always uses the house logo, since it doesn't know who's signing in yet.
Untick anything you don't record. It disappears from the Add/Edit form, the detail view and the completeness score. Nothing is deleted - tick it back on and your values are still there. Name and Collection are always kept.
Items in use can be renamed (updates all matching records) but cannot be deleted. Custom entries that aren't in use yet can be removed from the dropdown.
Scanned reference catalogs. Tap one to read it - ornaments whose Info Source mentions a catalog page link to it automatically.
